Bedroom: Fit for our Prince
Finally, this weekend I got to declutter and get rid of old office furniture from our spare bedroom and turn it into a nice bedroom for Harry! It feels so much brighter and spacious now. He even sleeps better. Can you believe that? For the past two nights he has slept from 8pm-8am! I am a firm believer that clutter and too many toys or furniture cause confusion for a young child. The proof is in the pudding! I often pack up Harry's toys and put them away and rotate them. He is in a way better mood when I do this as he can chose what to play with easily and is not overwhelmed.
It is still not 100% complete, as I would like to add a little colourful book shelving to add a splash of colour but not too much. I want it to be a calm, relaxing space for him. He has taken over half of the living room with his toys and activities so bedroom will mainly be for sleeping and reading only...well for now!
I love his little reading corner with books and child-sized rocking chair! Again from Home Goods!
Above I have paintings that I painted while pregnant. Check previous blog post on Nursery Ideas!
I bought some nice wall art from Marshalls and Home Goods to add a bit of colour and nature to his room. I think 'Animals from around the world' would be an appropriate theme that you can see in throughout his room.
Thought panda would be appropriate since Jonny and I lived and met in China!
The giraffe is one of his favourite animals to visit at the Zoo so I thought it would be nice to have this piece.
We love elephants so have included two elephant portraits in his room. Over the crib is another.
Lovely pieces from Newbridge Silver, Ireland. Gifts from his Christening!
This is a little felt cloud I saved that was stuck onto a gift bag. Recycle!! I really hope I find some more felt designs on bags like this or else I plan to make some myself to help describe the weather visually to Harry.
This is one of my fav wall pieces hanging in his room. A thoughtful gift from his Godparents; Stevie and Niamh. Contains all important info and facts around Harry such as his birth weight, times, dates and locations of where he was born. Such a cute personalized gift. I believe it is from Unique Ink Designs, Ireland.
This is a photo gallery of his family which I switch and rotate around with different photos and family members so that he can become familiar with his grandparents and family back home in Ireland.
